Nikos Kypourgos life long work is presented in two parts; KIPOTHEATRO (Garden Theater, and an allusion to Kypourgos last name) with selected stage music works, as well as selections from his (not necessarily innocent) children’s songs he has written. The second part, CINE ALSOS (Garden-Movie Theater), focuses primary on some of the numerous soundtracks he has composed. Both parts reconstruct the works of a full career, in a manner truly faithful to the spirit of his original compositions: constantly seeking new colors, shapes, forms, and musical imagery.
Nikos Kypourgos 25 year music path, inclusive of his training next to Manos Hadjidakis, Mattheos Moundes and Yannis Papaioannou, the legendary Third Program of the Greek National Radio and the equally legendary Childrens' Radio Show "Lilipoupoli", Ecole Normal and the Paris Conservatory, as well as his 42 stage music and soundtracks and 14 works has managed to be recorded in a live performance with some of the best Greek musicians. It is released by SIRIUS Records as the profiler of one of the most prolific contemporary Greek composers.
"Music is the echo of the world. This is the only overt aphorism the can embody all forms of musical expression; from a austerely structured Bach opus to a jazz or Indian music improvisation all the way to the breathing games of the Eskimos and the singing of the birds… Music is probably the most powerful of all Arts. It has an amazing power to overtake. In that perspective, music is a weapon of mass destruction".
